A damn shem …period…I am sorry..again I grew up in Houston, but never would I have thought I would have seen this. How can we go on without our small loaves of Wonder bread?.The Serpent, Excalibur..the great shows that came through. Astroworld FRIGHTNIGHT!!!!!!!! Now we are left with a field…just grass..OH, not to mention WaterWorld. Or that odd smell you had when you came off the water rides at AstroWorld. A place truely missed by many many people. I could go on and on..It is just sad.
Unfortunately it fell victim to how inexpensive it was to have a good time over the summer. Bands of roaming bored teenagers ran off the families who would spend the money…you can’t survive for long when your only customer is buying an annual pass for $75 and then doesn’t buy anything when he/she is there
$75? jeez, prices skyrocketed. My first pass in 69 was $18. I loved the centrifugal spinning round room where they locked the door and let her rip. As a young adventurous lad of 11 I have pleasant memories of miniskirts galore climbing up the walls. Lock me up in 1969 forever.

Lost Houston is a collection of photos of Houston-related buildings, businesses, and other places/things that have contributed to the city's uniqueness. Sadly, those tagged as "Lost" are no longer with us. But those tagged as "Endangered" might still be saved. Posting began in January 2007.
