Please Please we must not tear down all of our old theatres, this would be a wonderful play house, smaller theatre groups and dance groups could put on wonderful productions here. When Preston Huey and his wife (still living) managed the Old Alabama they cared for and loved this treasure so. Mr Huey also ran the old South Main drive in until it closed and was destroyed for a hideous office park that to this day I detest seeing. I grew up going to these gems and would go to productions, and or movies there again given the chance.
NEWER is NOT usually better.
I too remember the Alabama Theater as a kid – recall that TheSound Of Music” played there almost the full 3 years that I was in High School! I share your opinion, Sharelle.
Anybody remember the Delman Theater? Home of Mary Poppins!!
